The PHUSE Bengaluru Single Day Event in November 2024 was filled with learning, collaboration and innovative discussions and brought together professionals from across the industry. It stood out not only for its insightful presentations centred around the theme of ‘Achieving Efficiency in Programming, Analysis, and Reporting of New Age Clinical Trials’ but also for the meaningful connections it fostered among attendees.
To capture the true spirit of the event, we spoke with three attendees who shared their experiences. Here’s what they had to say! Catch up on presentations via the PHUSE Archive.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” This sentiment resonated deeply at the Bengaluru Single Day Event. As a passionate advocate of innovation and collaboration in clinical programming for the past two decades, I have had the privilege of being part of PHUSE since its inception in India years ago. This year’s theme – Achieving Efficiency in Programming, Analysis, and Reporting of New-Age Clinical Trials – felt particularly relevant as our industry continues to evolve with recent technologies and methodologies.
I was energised by the vibrant collaboration of 150+ professionals worldwide, united by a shared vision and passion. The discussions weren’t just insightful; they were transformative – ranging from real-world data integration and adaptive platform trials to the game-changing potential of generative AI in automating datasets. Bhavesh Acharya’s panel on the Revolution in Cancer Research struck an emotional chord, highlighting the intersection of science, industry and patient care.
What makes PHUSE SDEs so special is the synergy they foster. Every conversation, every presentation, feels like a stepping stone towards something bigger: more efficient systems, smarter solutions, and better patient outcomes. If you have not yet experienced a PHUSE SDE, you’re missing the chance to be part of something monumental. This is your opportunity to step into a world of transformation, where collaboration ignites innovation and where we each play a vital role in crafting the future. Don’t just attend – seize the chance to be the change the industry desperately needs.

Reflecting on my participation at the Bengaluru SDE offers a panorama of technological marvels that are reshaping clinical research. Based on the theme Achieving Efficiency in Programming, Analysis, and Reporting of New Age Clinical Trials, it was an interesting showcase of how modern technologies intersect with healthcare to accelerate progress and improve outcomes.
The energy was electric, filled with insightful discussions and groundbreaking presentations. One of the highlights was Sugandha Dangi’s engaging talk on how real-world data is revolutionising clinical trials, where he showcased the tangible impacts our work has on patient health. Equally impressive was Pam Launt’s keynote, which delved into the complexities of adaptive platform trials and the teamwork required to meet contemporary healthcare challenges.
The event was different because of its dynamic atmosphere, where every session sparked innovation. Discussions on leveraging new technologies in research processes opened visions of a more efficient, data-driven future, underlining the crucial role these tools play in advancing clinical research.
The corridors were buzzing with conversation. Attendees came from a vast array of backgrounds, and idea and experience exchange knitted the bonds of our professional community. The sessions were as varied as they were enlightening, with topics ranging from the nuance of statistical programming to the expansion of clinical research methodologies towards being more inclusive and holistic. It was not another conference in the making, but rather it felt like a workshop, where the future of healthcare was being actively moulded with collective expertise.
I left the event renewed, excited and rejuvenated. The insights gained were not just theoretical but actionable, empowering us to make a difference in the field of clinical trials. If you are interested in how technology is connecting with healthcare, you need to attend a PHUSE SDE. This experience was so much more than the sum of its parts; it felt like being part of something bigger – a community building the future of clinical data science.

Attending this Single Day Event at GSK Bengaluru was an incredible experience which brought together 150 professionals from diverse backgrounds, ranging from early career starters to seasoned experts. This was my second PHUSE SDE in 2024, and I was thoroughly impressed by the range of topics and the depth of discussions. From Pam Launt’s session on master protocols and adaptive trials – which offered transformative insights into cancer and pandemic research – to automation breakthroughs such as the STAG tool for improving SDTM to ADaM conversion, every presentation brought something valuable to the table.
The discussion on real-world data (RWD) in regulatory decision-making stood out, as it highlighted how RWD complements clinical trials by offering insights into safety and adverse events. Sessions on Agile project management and generative AI sparked ideas for improving efficiency and expanding possibilities in statistical programming. A particularly moving highlight was the evolving cancer research session, where patient stories brought to life the impact of innovative therapies such as CAR-T cells.
What struck me most was the collaborative spirit of the event, fostering knowledge-sharing and future-oriented thinking. I left with actionable learnings and a renewed enthusiasm for embracing technological advancements in clinical research. For anyone in the industry, PHUSE SDEs offer a unique platform to learn, network and grow. I highly recommend these events to anyone looking to stay ahead of the curve in statistical programming, RWD programming, data science and clinical trials. Thank you, PHUSE, for a truly inspiring day!
