  5. Aridhia

Over the past 10 years, Aridhia has worked to develop and support the Aridhia Digital Research Environment (DRE) – a combination PaaS/SaaS offering that addresses many of the common challenges associated with the scale and sustainability of biomedical data science. Our DRE is already used by research hospitals, pharma and global consortia across nearly 100 countries.

The Digital Research Environment

The Aridhia Digital Research Environment (DRE) is much more than a trusted research environment, designed specifically for collaborative health data science at enterprise scale.

The initial intention of Aridhia was to bring large-scale computing and analytics to healthcare and to bridge the gap between clinical research and how that knowledge contributes to day-to-day healthcare delivery.

The Aridhia DRE was created for, and in collaboration with, healthcare professionals and data scientists.

FAIR Data Services

Adhering to FAIR data principles is absolutely vital for the future of research: FAIR Data Services is a cloud-hosted platform within the DRE that gives researchers and innovators the ability to discover and understand data through dataset search, classification, and efficient metadata browsing capabilities. Data is described via dataset catalogues, dictionaries, and associated attached assets. Researchers can request access to datasets, and data owners get access to configurable and orchestrated data governance, while making approval decisions within their own specialised pipelines.

Workspaces

Workspaces then allows for the collaborative analysis of healthcare research data. Principal investigators can invite a team of people into the secure boundary of their workspace, and that team can upload, access and analyse project data while taking advantage of an audited environment furnished with analytical tools, scalable compute resources, and virtual desktops. Bring your own tooling and use private, localised git repos to support your modelling tools development and sharing.

All of this is underpinned by comprehensive auditing, secure data management, reliable infrastructure that scales to your needs, and world-class analytics capabilities. We handle high-level security accreditation, leaving your team to focus on the science. The DRE is your next-generation research environment.

As ensuring the safety, efficacy, and reliability of products and research within the life sciences is paramount, how do we go about guaranteeing compliance with quality frameworks like GMP, GLP, and GCP? Is that something that a trusted research environment like the Aridhia DRE can help with? Jeff Barrett takes a look at this important issue affecting everything from pharma products to the maintenance of research facilities.

As a decentralised consortium of paediatric hospitals, how does PHEMS aim to share and analyse data between partners? The answer lies in federated data analysis and sharing. Read Ross Stiven's blog to learn how the DRE is taking advantage of the newly developed Federated Node, which we demoed at the recent PHEMS annual conference at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

In a new study published in The Lancet Digital Health, Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) has identified the challenges faced and potential solutions to accelerate trustworthy data use internationally, sharing learnings from the International COVID-19 Data Alliance (ICODA) programme. The ICODA programme enabled 135 researchers from 19 countries to access diverse health datasets, accelerating pandemic research worldwide. At the heart of the programme, the ICODA Workbench was built from the Aridhia Digital Research Environment (DRE).
